Tabs - Save Image
The tab is used to preview the final image and save it to a file.
The program can save images in the following formats:
If the format of the saved file uses an algorithm of compression with losses (for example, JPEG) and you change the compression parameters, the image is automatically processed and you can see the result together with the estimated file size. It allows you to quickly evaluate the quality of the saved image and choose the necessary compression rate.
By default, the name of the saved file will have a suffix ( see View > Options... > Other > File Name Suffix ) added to the file name of the source image. You can also specify the necessary file name using the input field ( ).
By default, files are saved to the same directory the source image was loaded from. You can use the dialog box opened with a click on the button to change the directory the files will be saved to.
The button opens the list of directories you saved files to.
JPEG
The following options are available:
- Quality - sets the quality of the output image. Higher quality means a larger file.
- Progressive - sets the progressive data storage method. It differs from the regular one in the fact that the image with a low quality is displayed almost instantly and after that its quality keeps getting better as the image is being loaded.
- Thumbnail - allows you to include a thumbnail image in the file. It allows the image in the file to be quickly previewed.
- Keep EXIF / IPTC data - allows you to include EXIF / IPTC data in the saved file if there is any in the file with the source image.
TIFF
The following options are available:
- Color Depth - defines the number of bits (8 or 16) for every color channel.
- Compression - defines the compression method (LZW or ZIP).
- Keep EXIF / IPTC data - allows you to include EXIF / IPTC data in the saved file if there is any in the file with the source image.
PNG
The following options are available:
- Color Depth - defines the number of bits (8 or 16) for every color channel.
- Interlaced - sets the interlaced mode for saving. Such an image will be displayed on the screen similarly to an image in the JPEG format with the Progressive option.
